Custom Fire Agate and Morenci Azurite Pendants

Mark just made this Fire Agate Pendant for a customer on Etsy. He hand milled the sheet, wire and used micro files to cut out the sunburst pattern. 100% Recycled Harmony Metals - De-ox Sterling Silver and Fine Silver.

While making metal for the Fire Agate Pendant Mark also made these two Morenci Azurite Pendants for our friend. Twin stones for Twin Daughters.

It felt good for him to be in the shop but frustrating since it took three times as long as it would normally take him since his back injury last year. Hoping that the return to Physical Therapy is right around the corner - he's happiest when he's creating!

Hand Wrought Gold Jewelry - How It's Made

These were unusual wedding rings. 18k Gold and Arizona Fire Agate. Our customers were thrilled.

Sterling Silver and 14k Gold Mezuzah

Back in the late 90's I worked with a wonderful family and their company Beadbox. I tried to think of a meaningful Hanukkah Gift to make for them. Mark and I collaborated creating this Sterling Silver and 14k gold Mezuzah. An Oak Tree with birthstones of all of their family members - here, still in Europe and no longer with them.

 

 

When they moved to their new home were there for the Rabbi's blessing and the hanging of this family heirloom.

Platinum and Diamond Ring

In Scottsdale in the Mid 90's Mark was commissioned to set this platinum and diamond engagement ring. All we can remember is the center stone was 5 cts and it was for a famous baseball player. All surfaces except for the bottom of the ring shank were covered in Bright Cut Pave'd diamonds.

Breck Girl Pin Commission

In 1995 Mark was commissioned to stone set the 14k gold and diamond pins and the museum showpiece (larger pin below) for the Breck Girl competition. You can see them on the lapels of the winners.

White Gold & Diamond Fleur De Lis

Mark set the diamonds on this White Gold Fleur De Lis around '97. Believe it or not this is very close to life size and had about 5 cts of diamonds pave'd in it. Took about 40 hours to complete. He is so skilled at this type of work - probably his favorite thing in the varied jewelry making process.

Custom 18k Gold Cross With Persian Turquoise

Mark was commissioned by a Gallery in Santa Fe to make this piece in the mid-90's. The Customer's Mother passed away and he had Mark melt down all but a few components from her 18k gold & Persian Turquoise necklace. Mark made them into a cross - kept some of the elements and created a dove.

 

The Customer had a custom bible made and the cross sits in the front pages.

 

 

This shows the color better. He engraved a Florentine pattern on the top of the cross. Approximately 3 x 6" & 1/4" thick.

Bolo Tie in Cowboys & Indians

Mark got some exposure in Cowboys and Indians - a great Southwestern Magazine. He did the silversmithing on #10 (The Longhorn Skull Bola) A lot of different artists have their hand in the creation of this line. Cool! Mark did two beautiful Pave' projects for a new manufacturing account in Santa Fe. They were for one of their Jewelry Designer customers. Over 100 stones in each 18k gold ring

This is the type of work Mark loves to do. When he worked in Scottsdale, AZ this was almost a daily thing. Many years of learning and a LOT of skill in this kind of setting work. Can't wait for more of these projects!

State of Arizona Pendant

We've finished our custom Arizona Pendant! Hand Engraved Sterling Silver, 18k gold and Bisbee Turquoise. One of a kind. We hope our customer loves it!!

Original sketch for pendant. We reduced the state size but kept the star the same size.

Custom Arizona Pendant

We've been commissioned to create a custom Arizona Pendant. Here's the drawing (picture of rough metal work below.) The body of the piece is De-Ox Sterling and the star /stone setting are 18k gold Recycled Harmony Metal from the USA. The center will be a piece of High Grade Bisbee Turquoise. The metal is all hand milled and Mark is inlaying the stone.

In the design process with our customer we reduced the overall size by 15% but left the star at its original size. Mark is going to hand engrave all the lines of the stylized Arizona Flag and engrave wording on the back. I'll post when it's finished with all the stages. If it can be drawn we can make it!

The Beginnings of Our New Jewelry Line

This is the beginning of our new jewelry line. Mark has been making the Master designs in brass, then they'll be Hand Engraved by him and cast in De-Ox Sterling Silver, Recycled Harmony Metal. There are so many little components that we can't wait to start playing around with them to design finished pieces of jewelry! Endless combinations.

I know it's hard to imagine right now but these are going to be really nice. We'll be using American Gemstones and metals. When they're in production I will be doing the finishing work and Mark will be doing the soldering and stone-setting. I'll keep you posted as this big project comes together.
